Paul Gilroy is a leading scholar in the fields of cultural studies and postcolonial theory. His books include Black Atlantic: Modernity and Double Consciousness (1993), After Empire: Multiculture or Postcolonial Melancholia (2004), Black Britain – A Photographic History (2007) and Darker Than Blue: On the Moral Economies of Black Atlantic Culture (2010).
Since 2012, he is Professor of American and English Literature at King’s College, having previously been Giddens Professor of Social Theory at the London School of Economics (2005-2012), Charlotte Marian Saden Professor of African American Studies and Sociology at Yale (1999-2005) and Professor of Cultural Studies and Sociology at Goldsmiths College (1995-1999).
The lecture is co-organised by Ord & Bild, Department of Cultural Science and Department of Sociology and Work Science, University of Gothenburg.
