What is it to tell a story? How are these stories used? By whom? What are the spheres of effect of these stories? What does ”right” mean here? I will consider questions such as these as they relate to my experience as teacher and activist at the top and the bottom, in the Euro-U.S., Africa and Asia.

Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, University Professor at Columbia University, teaches English and Cultural Politics. She is also active in the International Women’s Movement and the struggle for Ecological Justice.

Stefan Jonsson is a Swedish writer, critic and professor at the Department of Social and Welfare Studies (REMESO Institutet för forskning om migration, etnicitet och samhälle) at Linköping University.

Admission free

The conversation is part of Clandestino Institute’s program The Right to Narrate (Rätten att berätta) which is connected to the course in Creative Writing for Newcomers led by the Iraqui writer Hassan Blasim.
